Teeth Whitening.
Why whiten your teeth?
Your teeth change colour as you get older, and other factors like what you eat and drink can affect their colour. Coffee, red wine, curry, balsamic vinegar and dark berries are all teeth staining culprits. You may have an important event coming up, such as a wedding or holiday, that you want to look your best for. It may be that your teeth have gradually become discoloured due to certain prescribed medications or antibiotics. A build up of calculus (tartar) can also lead to yellow-looking teeth, as can habits like smoking.

Teeth Whitening
If your self-confidence is affected by the appearance of your teeth, you may consider veneers. Your dentist at Swinnow Dental can help you achieve a beautiful smile with or without teeth straightening.
Do you have worn or crooked teeth? Are there gaps in your teeth? Are you happy with the colour of your teeth? Dental veneers provide an option to cover existing teeth and hide common problems with a new whiter and brighter finish. In certain situations, veneers can also straighten teeth. At Swinnow Dental we can discuss whether dental veneers are suitable for you.
There are 2 types of Dental Veneers.
Dental Veneers
Ceramic Veneers
These are long- term natural looking teeth that is crafted by highly skilled dental technicians to emulate the beauty of natural teeth. They can last for between 10-20 years if well maintained. Usually 3-4 appointments are required and some of the existing teeth will require polishing to allow the veneer to stick onto the teeth.
Composite Veneers
These are veneers applied in one visit. Layers of resin material are carefully placed onto existing teeth to cover the damaged, discoloured or misshapen teeth. They offer a good option for quick and repairable fixes to chipped and cracked teeth. They can last for between 4-8 years.
