This offers a fixed and permanent solution for one or more missing teeth. It offers the best solution to returning your confidence back in your smile. Our team at Swinnow Dental can help restore your teeth and peace of mind.

Dental Implants.

Our team will assess your teeth, jaw and the way your top and bottom teeth meet. A digital scan will help with the assessment. If the neighbouring teeth are good candidates for anchors, they will be carefully prepared to receive crowns. Digital scans are taken and the bridge can be constructed. A provisional bridge will then be placed whilst the bridge is being made.

When the bridge is ready, it will be carefully fitted by the dentist and bonded securely in place. Our team will show you how to clean and maintain your new bridge to ensure longevity.

If you would like to consider bridges to replace your missing teeth please get in touch with our team at Swinnow Dental on 0113 256 5214.

How is a bridge fitted?

Dental Bridges.

This offers a fixed and permanent tooth replacement by bridging the gap, especially on one side of the mouth. Our dentist at Swinnow Dental may recommend a bridge should it be suitable.

Why do I need a bridge?

A bridge is an elegant solution to replace on or more missing teeth. It is a fixed option and requires natural teeth on either side of the gap. These teeth will act as anchors to hold the missing tooth securely in place.

Leaving a space unfilled will cause the teeth adjacent to drift into the space. This will increase the risk of decay, fracture, gum disease and pain in the jaw. Therefore we would always recommend replacing any missing teeth to maintain stability in your bite.

Dentures

Why might I need dentures?

If you are missing a number of teeth or all your teeth, dentures can be an elegant solution to replace the function and the appearance of your teeth.

It is important to replace missing teeth even if it is just one tooth missing. Left untreated, your ability to chew and speak will be negatively affected, your remaining teeth either side of the space will go through more stress and strain and more likely to break. All this will increase the likelihood of losing further teeth.

How do I look after my dentures?

Dentures can be looked after like they were natural teeth. Plaque can accumulate around them and so require regular maintenance. If secured by teeth or implants regular dental health checks are vital to ensure their health and longevity.

If you would like to consider dentures to replace your missing teeth please get in touch with our team at Swinnow Dental on 0113 256 5214.

Dentures fall into 3 categories:

Complete Dentures: They replace all the missing teeth in each arch. They have an acrylic base (pink) with acrylic or composite teeth (white) attached to it. This device rests and fits over your gums. Accurate impressions and measurements of your teeth are taken and working with highly skilled dental technicians, we can provide bespoke, comfortable and highly aesthetic dentures that restore your function and smile. We will take time to ensure you feel comfortable with the dentures and teach you how to clean and secure them in place.

Partial Dentures: These are similar to the above but replace one or more missing teeth. We can use the remaining teeth to secure the denture. They are made bespoke and with a metal framework to fit and be secured around your existing teeth.

Implant retained dentures: These are a more permanent solution to the options above. Conventional dentures require your gums and a lot of practice to hold it in place.  Dental implants can be placed to act as anchors for the dentures. These ensure the dentures are more secure and unlikely to be loose. Implat retained overdentures provide a number of benefits over removable dentures, such as:

Fits more securely on the gums
Implants provide security and peace of mind, making it easier to chew
Looks and feel natural
Allows bone maintenance and stimulate bone growth.
